Spiritual Direction

We define Christian spiritual direction, then, as help given by one believer to another that enables the latter to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her and to respond to this personally communicating God … The focus of this type of spiritual direction is on experience, not ideas … Moreover, this experience is viewed, not as an isolated event, but as an expression of the ongoing personal relationship God has established with each one of us.

Spiritual Direction is an interpersonal relationship in which we learn how to grow, live, and love in the spiritual/faith life.  The practice of Spiritual Direction involves a process through which one person talks about their understanding of who or what God is for them and what God might be inviting them to.  The practice of discernment is a crucial part in the work of Spiritual Direction.
